George Lilanga Di Nyama was born in Masasi, Tanzania.
He started to carve first Makonde spirit sculpturers.
Lilanga moved to Mbagala, a suburb of Dar es Salaam.
He works for Nyumba ya Sanaa, the house of art in
the center of Dar es Salaam. In addition to the art of
carving he started to deal with other work techniques like etchings, woodcuts, paintings and drawings.
George Lilanga began exhibting his work in important
international shows.
He died in Dar es Salaam.
