The masks that the figures wear are authentic. They always had, and still do, their place in the various rites. These masks harbor the gods and ancestors, as well as the spirits of the forests and animals. They are the expression of deepest human feelings. Even if the cultural origins of the masks are very different, I can see a similarity in their expression of the uncanny strength and sanctity of nature.
