The materials that Tété Azankpo works with show signs of use; they envelop their past. From a philosophical perspective, they have stored and internalized their “life story”. Thus, his images are composed of energetically active segments, the elements of which, originating from old forms, act in new contexts, in changed interactions or conflicts, in altered dialogues, in harmony or in dissonance. Parts of new arrangements, they are also elements of things that have been. Their spiritual dimension is unreal because it cannot be seen. However, emerging on the level of the unconscious, it is this that forms the essence of the Azankpo’s images.
