Born in Harare, Zimbabwe 1983.

 

Kufa started doing art at the age of five. At primary school, he could draw some features on chalk boards and the teachers encouraged him to pursue art because the drawings were good. Subsequently, he won the first place (Zimbabwe-Africa Region) in the special ART contest on "Olympism, Sport, Peace", within the framework of the UNESCO ASSOCIATED SCHOOLS PROJECT NETWORK in 1999. 

 

Kufa began exhibiting in 2000 with Gallery Delta and Zimbabwe National Art Gallery, two of his paintings remaining in the permanent collection of the Zimbabwe National Gallery. He also undertakes commission work and has work on display as far away as Spain. He did voluntary art teaching (once a week) at the Mabvuku Roman Catholic Youth Centre under the Auspices of the French Embassy in Zimbabwe from (2005-2008).

 

Kufa participated in an exhibition by the Embassy of Germany in Zimbabwe (2009), the theme of which was walls, with his painting "Tarisiro" (Looking Forward To), which won the first price of the exhibition. Besides that, his work has been shown in an exhibition sponsored by the European Union Delegation to The Republic of Zimbabwe in 2013.

 

Currently; Kufa Makwavarara lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa.
