Barry Sack was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1948 and received his Bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Witwatersrand in 1969.
Sack currently resides and works in London, UK; Cape Town, South Africa and Kas, Turkey.

After emigrating to the United Kingdom in 1973 he worked in the commercial sector where he held senior positions and directorships at Anglo African Leasing, and Rothschilds Investment Trust, and he founded the Summit Group PLC in 1980, where he worked as chief executive until retiring from commercial life in 1990, to devote his time to being a full-time artist.

Since then, he paints and works as an architectural enamellist, and sculptor, having completed a residency at the Mariani Foundation, in bronze casting in Pietrasanta, Italy in 2019.

Typical pieces of his work in enamel include decorative wall and door panels.
In both his painting and enamelling, he uses the same technique of building up many transparent layers, creating the effect of “coloured lenses” through which the viewer can fully appreciate the translucence of the works.

Sack has completed  both private and public commissions including one for a major enamel commission  called “Quarried Elements”, for The Dresdner Kleinwort Benson Bank Headquarter Building located in London’s Swan Lane.
