On 20th of February 2018, Mario Boehm was interviewed by ‘ARTAFRICA’.
In the interview, Marion Boehm elucidates how global thinking and living have shaped her work. In this vein, she explains how her stay in Kliptown, SA – and recycling as an essential aspect of local life, a necessity rather than a choice – have influenced her style of working with a wide variety of materials, such as Shweshwe cloth, photographs, pastel, graphite and newspaper collages. The way she utilizes such materials is surely central to understanding the way Boehm expresses herself through her work.
