We are delighted to announce a very special exhibition for the upcoming Aachener Kunstroute. This year, ARTCO will present selected works by Saïdou Dicko in the exhibition:
THE SHADOWED PEOPLE.
In that vein we would like to cordially invite you to both:
The Vernissage, taking place on Saturday, 29 September 2018 from 10 AM onward, and
the Exhibition, which will last from 29 September 2018 until 17 November 2018.
Since early on, Shadows have been the central thematic focus of much of Saïdou's work. Born in 1979 in Burkina Faso, Dicko, one of 11 children, was initially a herdsman in his village near Deou. At the age of five, he had learned to draw by following his lamb's shadows across the semiarid soil of the Sahel.
His work was first exhibited in the 2006 Dak'Art, the Biennale of Contemporary African Art in Dakar, Senegal. Already then, Dicko was considered an exciting new discovery by many. Since 2006, the year the artist received the Promising New Artist Award from the Jean-Paul Blachére Foundation, Dicko has surely experienced a significant rise in profile. His work has been shown in several exhibitions, both in Africa and Europe.
We would very much enjoy welcoming you to THE SHADOWED PEOPLE at our gallery in Aachen.
With all good wishes,
Jutta & Joachim Melchers
